On September 24th and 25th, 2011, I will be participating in a very special and powerful event in the fight against breast cancer – The Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. Along with over 1,000 others, I will spend two days walking 30 miles around metro-Atlanta. . The monies raised from this event directly benefit local organizations that focus on breast cancer education, early detection, awareness and support services as well as the unmet needs in the breast cancer community.

As you may know, breast cancer has struck my family many times. My mother was diagnosed in January of 2009. Thanks to early detection, fantastic doctors and hospitals, and monies donated and earmarked for research, she is a survivor! This past December, my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is recovering very well – also due to early detection. In 1987, my aunt Mary was diagnosed with this horrible disease and fought the battle for over 2 years. She passed away at the age of 33 leaving 3 very small children. If she had known about early detection and the options available then, she may still be with us today. My team, Together Pink, includes my mom Ann, my aunt Glenda, and my cousin David (Mary‘s son). Naturally, we are all passionate about raising funds for Breast Cancer organizations and determined to do whatever necessary to stop this disease from ever affecting our family again.

In order to participate in this event, I have agreed to raise a minimum of $1000 in pledges as my contribution to The Atlanta 2-Day Walk for Breast Cancer. Our team has pledged to raise $4000. I am asking for your help in order to meet our goal, or better yet, to exceed it. Would you please consider making a tax-deductible donation?

Wow – it’s been a while. I know. Life has been pretty crazy for me over the past year.

I just wanted to check in and let you know that I do have some fun and interesting projects in the works, and maybe even a great gig this summer. Stay tuned.

I just got word that the benefit has been postponed until the fall. I’m not sure yet how they’re handling the tickets, but if you have any trouble, just let me know. For all of you who called the number I gave you and the person on the other end had no idea what you were talking about, my apologies. The church secretary apparently knew nothing about the entertainment for the benefit, only that there was one. So yes, you called the right place.

Sorry everybody. I was looking forward to it as well.

I’ve been on a hiatus for a while, dealing with family stuff and craziness at work. That will probably continue through the summer at the very least. However, I’m breaking the hiatus for a show on Saturday, May 2nd. Back in November, St. Paul United Methodist Church in New Ellenton, SC asked me to be a part of their contemporary service. That was a lot of fun and I enjoyed playing with and for them. Now, they’ve asked me back to headline their benefit dinner. I’d love to see some of you there – leave a comment on the page if you’re interested in getting a ticket.

And yes, I am vegan, but the benefit is for my boss’ church, so… If you’re also vegan or vegetarian, come anyway and you can join me for dinner afterward.
